Dr Shahista Shah Begum obtained her primary dental qualification from The University of Birmingham. Her career to date has included working as a Civilian Dentist for the British Army in Germany and as a Senior Dental Officer in the Falkland Islands. Other highlights of her career have included working for the Sultan of Brunei in his Shell Oil Hospital in Borneo. In between working abroad, she has worked in dental practices across the country both in the NHS and Private sector.

She has extensive experience of family dental health having worked in the Children’s department and Adult Health Clinics in the renowned Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. She has also worked as a Senior House Officer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department of the Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield managing head, neck and facial trauma.

Dr Begum also qualified as a Medical doctor from Barts Medical School in 2015. She worked as a Specialty Doctor in the prestigious Behçet’s Centre of Excellence, London. She has used her medical skills to help with the Covid-19 pandemic, working as an A&E doctor at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Dr Begum feels her dual qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry enables her to provide a much more holistic care to her dental patients.

Dr Begum enjoys providing all aspects of general dentistry. She has a keen interest in Aesthetic Dentistry and has undergone further training in minimally invasive Aesthetic Dentistry to improve her patients smiles with bonding techniques. She is also trained in Facial Aesthetics and is undergoing training in Invisalign.

In her spare time Dr Begum is learning to fly the Cirrus SR20 single engine plane. She is also a keen baker and likes to explore the great outdoors. She regularly offers her skills for CRISIS the national charity for the homeless and mentors young people wishing to pursue a career in Medicine or Dentistry.
